got a couple of these for 59cents apeice at petsmart. looks like a good thing for my aboreals. the water just sits in the dish. i plan on burying the bottom a little in the substrate.

i havn't done it yet, so if anyone with advice/experience can let me know, please do.

Umm...

That works well for bird seed, but I have to question if it will work for water or if the water will seek it's own level and run all over?

Not saying it won't work, but have to question the physics of the matter from just seeing that photo.

the ones i found say water fountain on them. the opening at the bottom is a little different than the seed ones. i filled one up and set it on my counter a little while ago to see how it acted. so far, so good. one atmosphere to keep it level.

physics is great.:}

It'll hold the water, no doubt, but what I wonder is if the T can actually drink out of it. To drink the T needs to be able submerge the chelicerae and the anterior part of the cephalothorax in the water and those things don't have a very big opening, maybe 3/4" x 3/8" if my memory serves.

If it does work, count on your T to web it up, wick all the moisture out, and flood your cage ;)

i know the ones you're thinking of, the real skinny ones. these have a tray the bottom that's about 2 x 2 inches. it's about 1/2" deep. i think it should work.
