How do you guys mix your water crystals, right now I eyeball it.
As in do you use 1 Tablespoon to an ounce of water.

I've noticed that the Six spot are all over the water crystals as soon as I put them in, where as the Orange heads hardly show an interest in them. Is this normal?

How much water crystal do you guys go through. I've bought two pounds and was wondering how long it would it would last me. With my 100 Orange heads and 100 Six Spot.

Thanks,
Israel

As far as mixing these things, I don't measure anything. They hold a LOT of water for thier size. I did a little "let's see" experiment where I threw some (about a teaspoon) in a gallon pitcher filled with water. A couple of hours later they had absorbed all the water they could and they were quite large. I knew they couldn't hold any more water because they were still covered with it, but they weren't absorbing any more.

I'm not familiar with roaches, but I would think that if one colony didn't take to them as quickly, maybe they just weren't as thirsty! ;)

You should be able to use these just about indefinitely. Of course, you can 'refill' them with water once they get dehydrated, so that'll make them last longer.

I use 3 tablespoons to make a gallon.
