Wasp in tomato patch

Check out this wasp I found in my neighbor's tomato patch. Watched it dig a borrow..but have not seen it bring in any spiders.

This is a Sphex ichneumoneous. This is not part of the family that primarily preys upon spiders (Pompilidae). The Sphecidae Family has a few wasps that prey upon spiders (mud daubers for example), but most parasitize insects. This genus only hunts katydids.

I did not know that! Thanks waspman. I have been watching and it now has two holes dug..Katydids are now out, so I will keep watching.
