WARNING: freaky spiders

hihi, my first post here, after seeing another post on another spider forum it reminds me if this, i dunno if any1 else has posted this but i'll put them on anyways...even tho i lurve my taratulas...these give me goosebumps....


i wonder if you have heard about some spiders that are found to have 'faces' on their abdomens...there seems to be a lot found...as far as i can tell, maybe other countries too...




anyways this post is worthles without piccs, lemme put some up...most of the sites are chinese w/ some japanese...

the spiders are called (literally translated) "Human-Faced Spiders"

No...it's real. Sometimes random patterns in spiders line themselves up into something we recognize.

However, due to the absence of tarantulas I vote this be moved to the true spiders and other arachnids forum

As well as this the human brain is designed to recognise faces wherever it can. That's why people 'see' faces in so many random things and why Jesus and Mary keep turning up in potatoes and fenceposts and stuff

I don't think that they're "freaky", but quite cute, actually. I've seen a lot of Jumping Spiders with a smiley face pattern on their abdomens, and our Golden Argiopes has a black design that resembles a shadow of a woman with a beehive hairdo. I have a photo of an Ocoebius(sp.?), or "Wall Spider", with the Batman logo on its abdomen, and the "Happy Face Spider" of Hawaii is well-known there. Still, though, these aren't tarantulas, so the pics would be seen by and appreciated by more true spider enthusiasts if they were moved to the "True Spider and Other Arachnids" section of the forum, before the Admins move it.
