Hi! I’ve never kept insects before but would love to keep giant diving beetles. Already checked out bugs in cyberspace and have learned about a few species and their diets. How big of a tank should I have? I have a 5 gallon already. I’ve kept aquariums for several years and currently have a pet musk turtle.
Any resources or species you recommend?
Thanks, it’s my first post :)

Welcome!!

Someone posted this yesterday

Try searching for scientific names, at a minimum the genus you are interested in.

Some species I’m interested in are
- Lethocerus americanus
- Cybister lateralimarginalis

I’m also interested in a aquatic beetle community tank because that sounds really interesting and like it’d be more fun to watch. Sorry if I got any of the names wrong, I’m used to mammals and fish.

I've kept a few larger predaceous diving beetle species before - incredibly easy to keep. I had them in a small tank with floating plants and some driftwood. I tong fed them superworms and crickets, they were very eager eaters.
