the other day I mentioned about the T spazzy thing. What I didnt mention was that a juvie 3.4" g.rosea died of it a bit ago. yesterday, atlanta_natives P.fasciata male died. Today, my 7" female is spazzing, falling off things, and exhibiting signs of it starting.

any thoughts of how to prevent it from going any further?

Nothing you probably don't already know:

keep your Ts physically isolated, clean and sterilize tongs between cages, clean and sterilize water dishes regularly, and cross your fingers.

We're in an experimental phase of T husbandry. No where in nature do so many Ts come together in such close proximity than in our spider rooms and we're finding that pathogens are adapting to take advantage of it.

I would highly recommend that any Ts dying of the Special K syndrome get sent to Kerry for autopsy and analysis. If we have a 2nd disease at work in collections we need to get it characterized as well.

"spazing out" reminds me of watching a roach getting sprayed with pesticide. have you sprayed your house lately, has there been a sparying in your apt. building, maybe outside and you had windows open?

It does remind one of that, yes, but if it's like what happened to a small G. pulchra I had, and some others, particularly slings, that were mentioned in an older thread I don't think it's pesticide related. With the exception of the moronic aerial spraying some locales are using for mosquito control, pesticides are very targeted anymore in the way they're applied, and they are strictly contact poisons.

><

I have ruled out pesticides as none are sprayed here, and dehydration seems unlikely as my T's are kept water, and that would be effecting them all since I water/feed at the same times.

spazzy disorder as of now:

G. rosea = dead
Fem G.rosea = stricken
P.fasciata = dead
P.fasciata = stricken
P.ornata = stricken
P.striata = possible

In fact, the only ones that im sure do not have it at this point are the ones that are in enclosed containers (jars, spaghetti holders) which would protect them more than the petpals from something airborne. and a few burrowers.

when you buy your petpals, do you clean them? if you do, what do you use?
