How big are those guys? They're really awesome looking, I love the red on them. If you don't mind me asking, how much did they cost? And how big is their enclosure? Very cool though - Congratulations!

I was wondering about that. I have never kept them before so I will have to take your word on that ;)

Glad you like them Brian!:D I like the picture, they usually don't share that well.

At this size they are more communal than when they are older, but it is still risking it. They are ravenous eaters and most items are seen as food, so better to seperate them.

Thanks Mike, I shall separate them as soon as I get home :)

BTW, How do you breed them?

No problem Brian. I will let you know through a PM, there is an article coming out in Invertebrate magazine on breeding these.

Thanks,

I hear that they have difficulty molting because they need to dig a molt chamber is this true? I have always wanted babies but was afriad to get them because I heard that they have issues with molting.

When given adequete substrate they will dig the chamber to what they require. Just keep them slightly moist, not wet, and there will be no problem.

Brian,

Do you know the exact country of origin of your vinegaroons?
I sent some WC M. manilanus slings to another member here in AB.

I observed that they are pretty much communal when we collected them. I've kept 2 adults a small deli container about 6x6x4 inch dimension. They aren't aggressive to each other. They are docile too. The only time they sprayed was when I caught them, after that they already got used to handling. The acetic acid won't hurt you (except in the eyes) but it sure does smell like vinegar.

These are native to the southern US. The north american ones tend to be much less communal than the asian ones.
