Hi Steven,

I guess the Rowland paper is the only source providing a key (at least the only one I found), so yes, I used that one. It goes down to genus level only but Minbosius is a monotypic genus (luckily ;) ).

Bodylength is about 8 cm. The length of the whip is about 5 cm with the specimen which got the longest one. All others should have lost parts of their whips.

Alex

Just got mine in

damn these are 10x faster and agressive
then those slow-moving Americans vinegaroons !

They got me by surprise with their speed {D
I also noticed that their "acid-smell" is completly different then Mastigoproctus :?

Hi,

it´s not the camera but the artificial light source I was using. They are more to the blackish in natural.

Hi,

nice pics, Steven. They aren´t that red either though :D. I guess your light source is more to the red spectrum and mine more to the blue.

i've heard there is acetic acid (vinegar) in North American spray but that some of the tropicals can do hydrocholoric or something... i'll have to try and find that reference again :)

Hi,

Steven´s are coming from the same source than mine, the Phillippines. The acid of this species does smell a lot like cider vinegar. I´ve never kept any other vinegaroon species, I´m usually into scorpions only, therefor I can´t compare. But I´d be really interested in the citation as well.

Regards
Alex
