Good question! Although I've kept them for years, IME vinegaroons invariably molt while sealed in their burrow, so I've never seen the process. My GUESS would be that it is more scorpion-like than tarantula-like.
They mold like Amblypygi do. So the cephalothorax opens and the animal get out of the old skin upright. I also haven't seen it before but that's what the books tell
I figured it would be upright but I saw one on it's back late last night and got curious. Anywho, didn't end up molting but I thought I might have disturbed it in the process. Probably just relaxing after its big meal.
