So I purchased my female vinegaroon last October and around January she made a burrow and I recently noticed she has an egg sac. This my first ever vinegaroon and I’ve looked up information but wanted to hit up the discussion boards to see if anyone has any tips or suggestions to make sure I’m doin things right. Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Probably more people with more experience will see this in the arachnid forum. But my experience with just a couple uropygi species is leave them alone. If they have decent soil levels and retreats, usually ok. Always have a small dish of water available. I have offered prekilled bugs when they are carrying eggs in the past. Always away from their burrow and removed a day after if uneaten.

if we notice females carrying eggs it's usually because their burrow is next to the wall of the enclosure and we can see through, or we haven't provided adequate substrate so they are visible on the surface. Or, sometimes we lift up their retreat to check. we can correct our husbandry easily based on that, I feel.

Once they hatch, I don't feed until second instar. No idea if this is best practice, but I have seen the most cannibalism after first shed, so I try and give them the most privacy during this stage. Second shed, I offer a prekilled (not twitching) bug a few days later. Also away from the burrow entrance, to avoid stress. The mom will go out and find it if she deems it necessary.

Probably depends on species, care and individual. But I found the moms I have bred to be quite amazing. Very rarely did I see them eating the babies, and never once after they shed out to be functioning little vin's :)

Thanks so much, yeah I haven’t disturbed her enclosure at all. And she did make her burrow against the glass so I have a decent view of her. Been making sure I keep it humid in there so the eggs don’t try out.
