I was wondering if anyone has kept these before and what are they like?? Im getting one for 25 from a local pet shop that special ordered for me. I know these have a nasty bite and though im not experienced im taking extra caution with dealing with this species. Im wondering whats best to keep them in something deff escape proof and ventilated. What kind of substrate should i use?? How big do they get??

Watch those fingers. A high tank- higher than the 'pede is long. Trim any excess silcone from the corners w/ a razor blade. They can't climb glass, but if you leave them any means to crawl to the top(plant, rocks, etc.), they will take advantage. Coco fiber works great, keep it moist & throw in some isopods to keep it clean. A fitted plexi or acrylic lid with holes drilled into it(and weighted) will keep the moisture & your new friend in. You will have more luck posting this in the myriapod section in the future;). Good luck!

1 gallon jars from walmart should work nicely for the enclosure. Drill/melt a bunch of 1/8th or 3/16th inch holes around the top and in the screw on lid, fill it half way with coco fiber/peat moss and bury a couple pieces of cork bark down in the substrate.

As zonbonzovi mentioned, a normal glass cage will work as well, but be *very* careful about being overconfident with tools. Centipedes are very adept at climbing right up forceps/hemostats/sticks/etc... :D
