My son has had his stripe knee about 3 months and recently caught a cold. He has been putting the vicks plug ins in his wall past few nights so he can sleep, but is worried it will hurt her. Does this have any impact on the spider at all? I'm a little freaked out for her now too.

This is a hard one. I personally read that invertebrates hate peppermint and it's an active ingredient in Vicks.
I wouldn't want to risk it if your son and T are sharing the same room. I would suggest relocating till you don't need to use the Vicks plug-in.
Make sure to Air out the room before introduction the T's enclosure in the same room again.
Better to be safe on this one than ending up with a dead or sick T.

Yes, we did that last night, but she already spent 2 nights in there with it...

If the T has already been exposed, then it's just a waiting game to find out if it does have any adverse effects on the health of the T. It should be okay, but nothing wrong with confirming and keeping an eye from a far without disturbing the T.

Depends on several things, you just have to wait and see. Should be fine although i wouldn't do it again.

Truthfully I have no idea what is in Vicks. Just remove the tarantula from the room while it’s on or use the rub formula of vics.

Why risk an animal’s life if you can move it? Seems like a no brainer to me

If something goes wrong, please update us. I hope all will be alright, but it would be useful to know if you notice some problems with your spider.

So far she seems okay. We have been keeping her out because my son has been stuffy for a while. She isnt eating but we think she might be getting ready to molt as she hasnt yet since we got her.

Tarantulas are pretty sensitive to these things. I agree with moving the T until it's been unplugged for a few days.

A quick look at Vick's ingredients, and Menthol (spider repellent: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29309619/) and Cedarleaf oil (cedar family, known repellant and toxic to insects and arachnids) suggest that everyone's right, that a spider shouldn't be kept exposed to this stuff.
