I thought there might be a few of you out there who would also appreciate this. In short, there is likely reason to believe that cockroaches can select their "own" diet if it were offered to them correctly, and that at least one species thrives on 1.3 P:C (protein to carbs).

I am inspired by this study, and I am now planning on experimenting with some of my roach colonies. I am assuming that each type of roach will be different, but perhaps they'll each "let you know" what's best for them.

Anyways, I just thought there might be a few who enjoy reading this.

Thanks for the artcle. I feed all of my roaches basically the same things but over time I have found certain likes and dislikes in different species. While 1 species will devour bananas another one will completely ignore it. I have found 4 of the 5 types of hissers love rommaine lettuce while the dwarf hissers hardly touch the stuff. So roaches can be picky eaters.
