Greetings,
A few months ago I got my hands on a Poecilotheria regalis. She is currently around 6cm big (in diameter I guess) and I have her in a quite spacious (but cluttered with adequate hiding spots and whatnot) enclosure.
Recently I have seen her maybe once every week or every 10 days and I was wondering if specimen from this species stay hidden like this all their lives or if they get out of hiding more as they grow. I have seen some videos where they seem to live on the front door of the enclosures and read some articles about their care and behavior but would like your personal experiences and wisdom in order to shed some light on this matter.

Thanks in advance.

I’ve never owned a pokie but what I’ve heard is that they do stay out in the open more as they grow older

My adult female P. fasciata is out whenever the sun goes down.
Unless she is in premolt. But typically I see her every morning and evening

Individual behavior is going to be based on multiple factors ie. how the enclosure is set up/decorated (This makes a big difference), individual temperament, temp, light level, etc.. I have found that even some of the more reclusive species can be viewed regularly when their enclosure is designed and set up in a way that offers cover in the right places per species preferences. But some individuals can still be very reclusive and there's not much you can do about that but enjoy the splendor whenever it is that you do lay eyes on it!

It varies across the specimen all thing being equal just like humans.

Depends on the setup, the species, and the individual. For some spiders, that's perfectly normal- it's just how they are. There are also ways you can modify your setup to help the spider feel more secure and more likely to venture out. An example of this would be adding more foliage to create sheltered areas where you can still see the spider, but it's not quite as exposed.

Update: I guess the tarantula was molting because she is back and bigger. Comes out in the evening for a stroll and just chilling on the tree bark. Couldn't get a pic but will post if I do

Little update, and necro, but since it's my post...
Tarantula is doing well. Somehow I convinced the house sitter to take care of it while away for a month and a half (work).

Wish me luck, they did the feeding but the cleaning is for me (due to the risks) so now I have to go grab 2 molts right where it likes to hang around plus all the stuff that needs to be cleaned (dead insects, poop,...). Idk how you do but from what I was told and shown, it might just be easier to put the tarantula in a temp enclosure, which I'll do, in order to do a full cleaning.

Big enough to threat-pose me when I feed her, but not that big yet though.
