So my boyfriend and I were doing some night herping at a lake. Found the usual southern toads and a bull frog for which I dove into bull nettle to catch (but missed it) 
There was some heavy splashing near the shore line around dusk so I followed the splashing until I found right in front of me a heck of a lot of gar spawning. They were huge and it was pretty cool. They were so close I felt I could reach out and touch them. No pics as it was night and all I have is a cell phone
