Versicolor RCF?

Hi everyone, I just got a versicolor here and I was told that it is a RCF version of the versicolors. I just want to confirm if are there keepers who have had this kind of color mutation in versicolor? if not then I bet this is probably hybrid or another type of ts and that I guess I'll just keep it as a collection not for breeding because I tried searching for versi rcf males and have not found even one. It is identified on google search cam as a versicolor but that's not an accurate basis everyone knows that lol, which is why I am more interested about the opinions and experiences of other keepers here thanks.

I’ve never ever seen versi listed as RCF, nor heard of it. Only ttime I’ve seen RCF is with Rose Hairs

I can say that decades ago many versi were biased towards red, not nearly as noticeable as that one! But very, very obvious! I had hoped my 2 AFs would turn out that way but they are more blue purple with red tints

It’s gorgeous.
Yet over the past 15 years versi adults have been more blue/purple with red, rather than red being the color that popped out more from
what I’ve seen. Could be many reasons for this.

I remember a member here who had quite a few AF versi, that were heavy red colors, though not completely red as yours seems to be.

A fresh molt pic would be helpful.

Is it red like this regardless of angle?

While I wouldn’t breed it to be cautious if it was a hybrid, I would seek to send the molt to an arachnologist if they were willing to look at it.

Is it WC or CB?
Do you know the age? And size?

Does it have chevron markings on its abdomen? This is important. I can see at least one, and that’s not present in my versi, but is in A. germani. It's hard with images vs seeing it in person.

It could be a naturally occurring mutation like N incei, or hybrid, or due to inbreeding

A Germani...maybe? The carapace does not appear blue like a C versicolor but maybe hybrid.

Your best bet would be to take @viper69 advice, send pics and molts to a specialist.

Poster below made a good observation regarding mirror patch that germani lacks.

there have always been red and purple versi....I wouldnt call them a "form" as there isnt evidence that they are separate at all, could be a recessive gene, I have also heard speculation that red ones tend to be male...IME I have had 2 purples which were female and a lot of males, almost all of which were red.....but I put little stock in this anecdotal evidence as it literally proves nothing.

I dont see how a seller could make a claim of color forms...although I dont hold it against him/her as the t is red and it is at least a way to let the buyer know what they are getting.

I agree, it looks more that like species and I bet it is.

That T lacks the metallic green carapace that versi has too. But again it’s only one pic
The germani does not have a mirror patch on the back of the abdomen though. To me this is still a versi.

Would be very cool if it is a versi with a recessive gene, like a gold incei. If only we had DNA sequences.

That's interesting, all my males were purple background with a hint of red towards the end of their setae on their rear legs in particular at least for the 2 I remember best. Very interesting.

I'm sure there's far more color variation than we are aware for tarantulas in general

Good point I overlooked that.

Just got better pictures so that everyone can have more opinions about this matter. I got that as a mature female, knowing that it is prohibited to import tarantulas into our country, it is most likely an offspring of CB. With that being said, I still have doubts so the following attached files show my different mature female versicolors along with the suspected versicolor rcf. Each have their own enclosures the setting on the pic is just a setup for having a better comparison between each other.

Note* forgot to say this on the earlier post but all of them including the suspected versi rcf are females, the smallest being 4.5-5inches, then the rest being 5.5-6inches.
Lastly, all of them are likely premolt due to their coloration becoming darker and legs more thinner than usual.
The suspected rcf last molted this January based on what the previous owner told me.
The smaller one last molted last year around July, stated by the other previous owner.
The bigger one has unknown details when it last molted.

Anyways, I don't really trust everyting that keepers say here in our country 🤭 when I'm getting tarantulas specially the molt dates which is why I prefer to wait and let them molt for me to have more accurate details.

I posted this thread hoping that there are others who are more expert than me or those who have had this beautiful tarantula in the hobby, as well as sharing the beauty of this girl. I don't really care if it's indeed a versi or not and am well aware about the dos and don'ts of breeding tarantulas so yeah, hope this thread would be helpful to others too.

@Crescent - the one labeled biggest one, sure looks like a versi to me- seems like the carapace is a mute metallic green.

Again, going by pictures is challenging, but I certainly lean versi after after seeing these new images with the others.

Would love to see fresh molts of all 3.

I sure would like to know where these are all coming from. My 2 AFs are not nearly this red.

I only got them as adults to other keepers who have versicolors too inside our country, Philippines. If only importing this kind of stuff to other countries is not strict here, then giving you an offspring in the future if I am ever successful in mating these usual versicolors that I have wouldn't be a problem (except the most reddish one - I really have decided not to breed it despite being close to being a versi)😂

I am still a newbie to the hobby (been a year only actually since I entered this hobby) and became quite addicted to versicolors, collecting matured females from time to time. That's how I came accross with the more reddish one that made me create this thread because even I have never seen a versi like this despite my obsession towards them from watching videos down to reading forums and knowing the experiences of other keepers when it comes to versicolors.🤣

This is going to set a fire.

i mean, at first glance, this is beautiful. When you add c versi, wow. Hm. Much to think about.

i would get this analyzed by local arachno specialists. There has to be some.

in any case, could be freaky hybrids. Without genetics, nothing can be proved.

you will need dna work done on this to prove anything.

Probably just unusually red it’s a different sub species ??
Rcf is generally g rosea or obt . I had never paid attention to this one.
So it’s a sub species color form?

This person needs scientific work done. Before they can claim anything, no matter what it looks like.

they are in the philippines too.

So, I just want to end this thread by sharing my last message, and yes! she finally just molted today!

After seeing her new appearance, It is indeed a beautiful versicolor. The geenish part on its carapace might have just faded due to the effect of near to molting before it molted today.

As a token of gratitude in sharing your opinions, I will be attaching images of how she looks like right now,

Sorry in advance for the container that she is in right now, her enclosure was way too small that's why I carefully transferred her earlier when I had a gut that she will be molting soon and guess what, I was right😂

Once again, thank you to all who have responded to this thread. I really enjoyed reading your opinions when I first posted this thread.

New color looks much more normal. And carapace is proper color. Perhaps just an old, faded wardrobe
