Hey there. I'm getting my 1st arboreals. C. Versicolor and P. Victori. Is this ventilation enough? Or do I need to put more holes maybe on sides. 9b5d816f-2d78-42e7-a1a0-d6719323240b.jpg 2a02d630-56b0-4923-bad5-733660731d51.jpg

What a combination for your first hah, not the route I chose.

I put holes on all 4 sides esp for Avics

One is for me and the other I just take care of for a year until my friend comes to pick it up.
I have a few terrestrials already and the more I read about arboreals the more fascinating they become. C:

its fine.

Ventilation is less about the number of holes than it is about the placement of the holes.....holes on or near the top to provide escape, and holes near the bottom to provide an influx of air as it leaves out the top...this is what is needed.

You chose a “europe” style of cross ventilation. So it works. The bottom holes are placed near substrate which is where they should be. The top holes at the top is where the air and humidity is supposed to exist. Creating the ventilation.

Some people add more. I would add more. But its not needed when done right.

you will still need to make sure you dont overwet the substrate or mist that enclosure like its raining. Because even with your ventilation, it can get humid quick.

in your photo you can see water droplets. Are they from misting? If not, something is saying its too humid.

Yes I misted the enclosure before spiders came in to see if it evaporates at all and it does over night. I put more holes everywhere. I added more on top sides and and bottom sides! I also added water dish but I think I did poor job of the inside for my caribena. I gave her 2 sticks and no bark she was walking around and falling so I put more stuff and some leafs and now she sits between leafs and sticks in a little burrow they create. Hope she will be good. Ate a roach butt today! <3 IMG20240926165829.jpg

I was thinking the same thing! Psalmopoeus for first arboreal is definitely brave lol..
I chose Caribena Versicolor for my 1st arboreal the other one is for my friend. I will just take care of it for a year or so. :D I did get stuck with P. reduncus because of some problems with communication...

So I am stuck with P. Reduncus by accident and didn't know what to do with him as I was not prepared for 3 arboreals and I set him up in short container. Is that good for now? I read they make nests near the ground and he does seem to like hiding in the bark I provided. IMG20240926170802.jpg IMG20240926170810.jpg
I planned to keep him here for few molts. 2 maybe 3 he is L2 apparently. Container is 8x8x7 in cm. I was wondering what others think about it.
Please do not be mean to me if anything is wrong. I wasn't prepared for him. He was supposed to be Lasiodora Parahybana. C:
And yes he sits inside the bark, bark is flat and covered with a leaf from other side. He webbed.

As long as it has a nice size of cork that goes all the way up and allows a possible hiding spot, it will do well. A little fake plant and in top hides hiding and anchor points. Its really basic.

your corck could be wider.

It's not cork it's some random piece I got laying around. It's a little mouldy and he is doing square hammock haha.
He literally went 90 degrees. I plan on getting him into different enclosure after 2molts. Need to read on how fast they molt. 💜
