Velvet ant found, a(baby)?

Found this little guy in the beach today roaming around. Is she a baby or a different species from the big ones? She looks very similar to bigger species i usually find in my home, I'm planning on keeping her. What does she eat at that size? Might get a bigger one when i find it, but for one she is a nice addition to my collection. By the way, their sting isn't so cute. Trust me.

You forgot the picture so I can't tell you what it is but I can tell you now that it's not a baby velvet ant. Like all wasps and ants, velvet ants have distinct larva and pupa stages. So a baby velvet ant would look something like this: http://bugguide.net/node/view/94613/bgpage
