Vegetarian gecko

I noted one of our common household fertilizer installation units scampering up a wall just now with something in it's mouth. Trying for a closer look it dropped the object which turned out to be a slice of apple. As I left the kitchen it ran back down the wall, grabbed the slice again and made off with it.
What gives?

Some geckos love nectar, that's not too far away .

Tokays love fruit as well, my friend has some that raid his mango jam (In the Philippines "jam" is different.) Its like a fruit roll up, and the geckos love the stuff.

Wow. I live and learn. Never thought of them as anything but pure carnivores.
