I have been thinking of using Silverfish/Firebrats as feeders for my inverts because they are the most common soft-bodied insects I can find right now. But I have been superstitious about doing so because I have never heard of them being used as feeders before and that might be for a reason. They are also very unique among insects, and I feel there success as a species could be due to more than just running away, such as having toxic flesh or something like that. So I just want to know if its safe to feed silverfish/firebrats to my pets.

Silverfish - Lepisma saccarima, Survive in damp conditions 75% humidity - Temp range 71-90 F.
Firebrats - Thermobia domestica , Require very hot dry conditions 30% humidity - Temp. range 98 -102 F.
I know Firebrats are sold as feeders here in the U.K. but they must be kept in "furnace" conditions to survive.
Silverfish are known to cause infestations if loose, and are not ideal as they will survive in normal conditions.
I personally wouln't bother - too much hassle.

They are amazing as feeders for small predators. Easy to breed too, but they take some time to build up numbers.
