Hi, I'm getting in a bred Usambara Orange in a couple days. I was wondering if anyone here bred them. How long until they drop? Then how long until the sack is ready to be opened? I'll take it away after a while for incubation.
Thanks,
Steve

I guess I have to ask.....are you sure she is gravid?
Just because she's had a mate does not mean there
will be an egg sack.
As for the time length, I have no clue. Maybe one of our experts can help with that.:D

Oh, and if she does make an egg sack........good luck trying to take it:eek: Those beasts are fast and nasty!! I have 2 of them.

Hi, I have 1 cb in the 2in. range, 5 3 1/2inchers, and the new female I just got. Also 5 mombassa golden starburst slings around 2in.

Did I miss the boat, or what?! LOL!
You have sub-adults and tiny slings now and you
would like to breed them....in the future.
Am I going the right way now?:? :?

Yeah hon, I think you missed the "and the new female I just got" which was mentioned between his lings and subadults. It's the one he's talking about in his initial post...that he thinks is gravid. :)

Good luck getting babies. I thought I'd heard they make good mothers, but I may be wrong. I don't think I'd ever try to take an eggsac away from one of those little beasties!! *shiver*

They don't make an eggsac like Brachypelmas or Aphonopelmas that can be taken away. Instead the female deposits webbing in sheets (similiar to a sperm web in appearance), deposits the eggs, layers on more sheets. It's much more like a hammock. My female is sitting over hers now. Last year she made her hammock on July 18th and the babies emerged on August 11th. Very fast. The first 40 babies were pretty easy to gather up as they were out and about. The rest were all mixed in the copious amount of webbing she produces. Good luck with yours. John

Oh, forgot. I placed the male with her on June 18th. They did their thing and she ate him. She dropped her eggs July 13th.
