Hi all, This may have been discussed here before but I'm just curious. When I moved to Fla. back in the early-mid 80's these thing were everywhere. By the time I made it back to nw La. around 1991 they were already common in a few suburbs of Shreveport. Now they are abundant to fairly so area-wide. I had never heard anyone mention them in our area previously. So, are there any AB'ers farther n in interior finding these? I've already heard of reports far n in coastal areas.

Wow! I quickly found an article on geckoweb showing them established centrally as far n as nw Arkansas so I'll restate my q. Anyone n of there finding them?

Although the Mediterranean species may be more widely spread (I believe even Chicago has a population of H. turcicus now), even Madagascan day geckos are becoming prevalent in Florida these days.

WOW! I've also run across some geckos here that look larger and fairly heavily banded, especially near Sunset Acres neighborhood. I guess I need to get off my lazy butt and start keying these guys out.

Speaking of which, I found this Hemidactylus species ( I believe its turcicus), outside of a friends house just outside of fort myers florida. Notice the cool addition she has!

i can second that.
i had a house in Coolidge, Arizona (Pinal county) and i could easily spot 30 a night. once i was walking bare foot in my house at night and accidentally stepped on one, it was gross to say the least.

Well, if you want North of you I haven't heard of anything like that in Wisconsin. If we had them I'd probably get into gecko keeping though.

Terry, you have them around S'port & Bossier eh? I may have to drive back down and try my luck at finding a few.
We brought back 2 house gecko's from our vacation in Gulf Shores last month and they seem pretty hardy. They'll wolf down crickets like popcorn! After the sun went down we were seeing them everywhere. All I ever see here are green anoles, fence lizards, and the blue tailed skinks.
Great pics by the way!
