I recieved 2 Solifugids today in the mail (paragaleodes pallidus, probably misspelled) and they are both completely unresponsive. What's a safe way to be sure they are dead? I heard they can hibernate so I'm praying that's what it is...

Sorry to hear that but sounds like they have passed. You could try using a brush, or something to see if you get a responds.

Not big at all. The bottom row in that group of 6 deli cups is them. Compare to the scorpions which are adult LQs.

Leave them alone...

They might be molting! They can take up to a week to molt...and they will just sit there and not move at all during the process...even if you touch them.

I've never had solifugids but I think they look really interesting.

Anyway, the rule I've come to know and live by is this: Don't throw anything away until they start to smell!

I agree, Jenny Dobson just gave an excellent lecture on these at the BTS lectures and dinner, she explained this dormant un responsive behaviour and they can take nearly a month to molt...

I hope this is the case however if they start to stink, best then get rid of them.. :)

Cheers

are they in a sort of "flying superman" position? that is how mine stayed for a cool 4,5,6 days before they molted
