Could it be a dark form of Lasiodorides polycuspulatus? That's what comes to mind when I look at the legs.

Dwayne: it does resemble my L. polycuspulatus female BUT this one has a nice orange colour on the legs (particularly the front legs)

This thread was NOT intended to attempt to ID the tarantula depicted above, but was simply to show off this little beauty.

There were two spiders like that.Martin got them from me.I purchased them from petstores. Both were sold as "paraguay red and gold"...no scientific name. Both had molted 2x in my possession gaining little to no size which tells me they are probably mature or very close to it.They're not a big spider...maybe 4-5 inches.Very docile also.By the looks of the pictures it has it's duller premolt colors. It's actually very colorful postmolt...blues..greys..reds.I tried for quite some time trying to find out what they were but to no avail.Regardless they're still a very nice spider.I enjoyed them very much as I'm sure you are.

The pictures were taken About 10 minutes AFTER it moulted Pete.

You are right about it not getting any bigger after a moult.

Thanks for the name you had been told it was, i couldn't for the life of me remember what you had said it was called (back in November).

I only have the one of them, Eric (CIRE) i think has the other.
