Unidentified beetle, ID needed

I found this beetle while out herping near a cotton field. Its wicked fast, and looks to pack a nasty bite. Im rather enamored with the things, and would love to know more about them.

Megacephala carolina AKA rainbow tiger beetle...swifty is selling some now :)

Apparrently, they're communal if fed well.

yeah, awesome little guys i got those down here also(fla).they are fun to keep,very aggressive eaters.

A quick comment on keeping these, I tried the communal thing, but one killed the other, then died shortly after. Maybe they were both males and territorial?

Im going to try again, as there are still plenty in the location where I caught the first two. This time though, they can have separate houses. :eek:
