So an ex-gf was being forced to get rid of her 3 bearded dragons and needed to find them a good home. Naturally I volunteered my home, planned accordingly and now I am the proud owner of 3 healthy, adult (as far as I can tell), bearded dragons. I have cared for a couple before (lizard-sitting) and owned one as well probably 6 or 8 years ago which I subsequently traded. I have never spent a whole lot of time learning the characteristic of different species and/or color morphs but from what I can tell and according to the previous owner I have two bearded dragon males and one female. The two males are supposed to be bearded dragons (Pogona vitticeps) and the other is supposed to be a Rankin's dragon (Pogona henrylawsoni). I am ok as far as care and setup as they are all in 100 gal custom tanks and I feel confident in caring for them.
I was wondering if anyone on here is well-versed enough in telling apart species and color morphs and also sex. I can get pics and post them but figured I would start a thread and see if I got any hits first. Feel free to PM me if that would be easier, I can send pics for sexing or species ID. I just really would like to know what all I have because, no offense to my ex, I don't think the previous owner was very knowledgeable about them. Also, she apparently would dress one up in a small white dress thing...not cool imo lol but other than that she was taking good care of them for about 2 years and they seem healthy as far as I can tell. Any help is always greatly appreciated! thanks in advance AB members.

Yeah they all are in separate enclosures, and thanks pyro! I was hoping you would chime in on here hah. Looking at that site and the dragons I believe I have figured out which ones I may have...sanfire morph, leatherback morph and a rankins dragon. Ill throw a few photos up later and maybe try and get some good ventral shots as well. thanks again dude

Ancalagon - Beardie or Rankins?

So i totally spaced and forgot i made this thread a while back lol It's been a very busy couple of months for me. Anyway, all three dragons aforementioned are doing great still! Here's a pic of the one I was told was a rankin's dragon.

Let me know if you get a chance to take a look pyrofiend (or anyone else of course lol) and what you think. I thought rankins dragons never got as big as that, there is a lighter in the pic for size reference. I'll get some decent pics of the other dragons too. The sandfire is my youngest and smallest and so far the most active/curious. The assumed leatherback is very chill until it's ready for cricket munching time, then it will even slap at it's enclosure door when it sees me feeding it's cohabitants (they are not housed together but share the same 'reptile room').

Edit: Ancalagon is what i decided to name this one incase that is confusing lol, the other two dragons I own are Glaurung (leatherback, big guy), and Smaug (sandfire) - greatest calamity of the third age ;)

sorry im just getting around to this have been pretty busy ^_^ now first if first rankins.. they have been interbred with other dragon sp for years making "vittikins" maybe its the angel but looks like a mutt.. usually pure rankins are 10-12" [dont smoke so bad scale for me but i know how big those would be aprox] it doesnt seem often we see them in the us hobby anymore. so thats my guess..

iv seen some mutts. year befor i had some guy had claimed to cross Chris Allen Reds, German Giants and Rankins for "the ultimate rare and beautiful dragon" YUK! mutting great animals

great lookin guys tho ^_^ love the names XD better then "lemmon drop" and "elf" that my buddy keeps XD
