Hey guys. I’ve only posted on here 2 times being a new keeper and one of those was yesterday for a completely different reason not even the same spider haha. Anyways since I have fallen in love with this hobby I decided to catch an adult jumping spider I found in my house and keep it like my other inverts. I’ve had her for a little over a week now. She’s been doing awesome in her enclosure and seems perfectly happy, and about an hour ago she laid an eggsac! I thought she was just decently fat comparing pictures of gravid jumping spiders online. Either way, I still would care for her and I am wondering what to do with the babies. I want to keep a few and maybe give some to my friends, but I certainly don’t have the space or containers to keep more than 100 and I’m worried about what to do shortly after they hatch. Any advice is appreciated, thanks. Also the species of jumping spider is Platycryptus Undatus, the tan jumper.

Others are much more qualified to answer your questions but the basics are, let them cannibalize each other until an acceptable population. Down side is they are expert escape artists. My personal take of when I chance across a mommy and offspring to be I offer her shelter in or near the carport. Let the kids romp where they may, inside the house and out. They belong here as much as I do.

I don’t see too many eggs in there at the moment.

I will take some 😂 I would suggest watching snake discovery’s baby jumping spiders are hatching use that method and release the extras!
