Hi everyone,
I found this spider out my back today. Would anyone be able to tell me what species it is please?

It appears to have 7 mites attached to it, one isn't immediately obvious. That would be my immediate issue before figuring out the species, is getting the mites off. What did you think those little orange blobs were?

edit: Given how fat those mites look, they may even be predatory ones. I would try picking them off the spider with tiny tweezers, or even fingernails if you can.

Hi,
I had no idea what they were but as I have no experience or knowledge of spiders i completely guessed the spider was carrying eggs...this was this morning so it's long gone now im afraid.

Which appear to be mature. So the OP has a good start on a predator mite farm. Introduce other animals and see which harbors the mites the best a few generations down the road.

(Mites are hardier and usually much more prolific than their hosts so you can forget eradication of just them.

Man I hate mites. I guess they serve a purpose in biodiversity, but they're just so fking disgusting especially the predatory ones. Little tiny hundreds of crawling fkers.
