UCSD Tests Safer Anti-Venom For Black Widow Bites

I'm sorry, I'm sure it's a good thing, but there's some stuff I have to point out.
poisonous venom? toxic venom? Do newspapers really have to print these at such a low reading level that they have to point out that venom is both toxic and poisonous? C'mon.
They seem to be making antivenoms with less possibility of causing allergic reactions. While this may be a good thing, is it possible to develop an allergy to these new ones they're coming up with?
If so, that would nullify the research at least a little bit.
Are they working on similar things for snakebites?
