More or less...technically a newt but falls under the overarching category of salamander. I don't think they are bred very often and are now threatened.
I've had it for a few years now, purchased as part of a small collection from someone that had that collection for a few years, as well. It has an ever present array of live foods(red worms, roach nymphs, etc.) but has been noticeably skinny for the past year. Could be nearing the end although I've read that they have quite the life span. Who knows? The photo shows it being rather moist, but there is gradation. I think they're often kept too moist and it exacerbates any health issues they may have pre-import.
