Try wading below Mansfield Dam. You will freeze you **** off but it used to be crazy thick with crawfish. Know a couple other places in Round Rock that you might could try. Cant guarantee the Tx Devil but there will be plenty of crawfish.

I find those all the time! I had no idea what their common name would be. I find them in the ditches here under trash and rocks.

Cool!! That looks like a young one. I wonder if there's a color diff with age, or locality. I remember that they look nice under a fluorescence light in an aquarium, the colors look painted on. The ones I found were in Bryan. I'm still not 100% that this is the sp I saw but I sure think so. Crawdads are all over the place, I could catch 100's of them in a day on some flood plain I have access to, but not these, they are just not very common around Bryan. That's what the author of the crawdad book said anyway. Alright, I'm a little fired up about crawdads now, haha. I'm going to look for diff kinds next time I go to Bryan. You can put a little piece of meat on a string and drop it in the burrowing sp holes to get them to come up. I remember the lines on the tail being orange but it's been 25 or 30 years since I saw one of those.

Do you know the sci name?, might be able to find more pics.

Found it!
Cambarus ludovicianus
I googled and found this thread on a crayfish forumhttp://www.bluecrayfish.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=1266

I find them a lot, sometimes with very bright coloration and sometimes the blue will be just a dull gray. The gray ones could be approaching a molt or something. I tried to keep one but it didn't work out very well. I may try again!

Sadly, many native crayfish are being rapidly displaced by the introduction of the asiatic crayfish....

Well this species isn't suffering in the houston area at least. One of our most common crayfish.

The ones I've found aren't very big. 2" at the most

I was going through pics and came across this:

That one was found in the same ditch the TX Devil was
