Two Questions Regarding My Next MHC Clean

In about 3 days I'm hoping to do my first every-other-month tank cleaning for my male G. Portentosa's. However, I have two questions in which I wasn't able to find any answer for anywhere else online.

1. How do I clean my semi-large driftwood pieces? Like with just water or is there a certain solution I should mix up.

2. It's starting to heat up where I live so my family is planning to put in our large air conditioning unit. This unit stays in my room, which is also where I house my G. Portentosa's. I know they need a fairly warm climate so will they be okay with the unit almost constantly running? We don't set it at a temperature any less than 67 degrees, but with the air flow it's probably about 60 degrees running. We'll have the AC throughout the summer months so probably May-September. If it's too chilly for them all I'm planning on bringing them downstairs, which I would do during the cleaning. I know they're roaches, so they can survive virtually anything but I don't want them to be miserable during the summer. So, should I bring them downstairs or will they be just fine?

I know it's a lot of information but I do really need both of these answered.
Thanks for reading!

A little hot water and a brush if you have to.
Should be enough to do the trick.

Air conditioning is going to be hard on them the way you describe your situation. I'd move them. That goes double if you're trying breeding.
