Ok, does anybody else have this issue? As soon as my L. parahybana molts, she attacks and mucnches up the old exuvium before I can get my hands on it to determine the sex. I have never posted pictures here before, but here goes my first try. Let me know if you have a soltion to my problem.

Wow!

I didn't realize L. parahybana was so pretty after a molt!

Yeah, they will sometimes eat the exuvium. Molting uses up a lot of energy and water and eating the exuvium can help them regain some of that lost water/energy/etc.

Yes, she is indeed pretty. I just wish I knew if she was a she or not. Anyway, I will try to post a few more pics in the pics section when she gets done munching up the old skin. I got a digital camera finally and now I am learning how to take pictures of my babies.

I have yet to retrieve an exuvium from my H. lividum. She (at least I think it is a female) always molts in her burrow and then eats her molt. On occassion, she will pack it into the wall in the deepest part of the burrow, but I can't get to it. I would love to be able to get an exuvium from her.
