I only have 5 (2 males, 3 females) but I'll see where it goes lol. They're in a medium kritter keeper for now with a horizontal divider to provide territory for both males, if the population goes beserk like I hope it will then I'll expand. I'm keeping it right next to my boa's enclosure for proper heating lol :D just thought I'd share that hehe. Wish me luck!

I have hissers for trade or sale...I don't really want my old colony of 30 or so anymore...so if you want them, just hit me up with a PM. They're cool, but they are slooooow to breed.

not only are they slow to breed but my oldest nymphs (must be getting close to 18 months old now) are maybe 1.5" long

granted you could probably improve on my growth speed by feeding them more than i do and keeping them warmer during winter and stuff... but still, not going to blind any one with their amazing growth speed

they are cute little guys though. and i love seeing ppl's reactions to almost 4" long roaches :)

I have about 10 right now, i used to have a large colony of around 300 but i gave abunch away and they started dying off, but i ended up with 5 males and a female, and then one of the people i gave the original colony too gave back 5 females(babies when they first got them:). I also want to start Blaptica dubia:)

My hissers are very fast breeders (almost as fast as my lobsters) and are growing rapidly. What conditions are you keeping yours under? One thing that I can recomend for faster breeding and growth is keeping them in confined spaces.

i dont know if its just coincidence or if it really does have a huge impact. i normally kept my old hisser colony of 500ish at roughly 80-86F with a slightly moist substrate. when ever i turned on my heat pad within a week i would get 2-5 molts and nymphs would almost always hatch at these times.

try raising the heat slightly and feeding them high quality stuff. and like stated above, they BLOOM in confined spaces. i had them in a 10 gallon tank and decided to switch them to a 29gallon. i noticed a drop in breeding and food consumption so i returned them to the 10 gallon and they began growing like a brush fire all over again.

have fun with your hissers {D

I have my 5 in a 2.5 gal right now, I'll expand to a 5 then 10 gallon if they start showing me some lovin' hehe. I have a few toilet paper rolls in there and a horizontal divider. Plenty of food and moisture, and keeping it warm.

My old colony bred like crazy in their ten gallon, the new ones are in an even smaller space so maybe they will start to breed faster.
