Could someone take a shot at identifying this twerp? I believe it is one of S.E. Asia's more venomous snakes. Sorry about the lousy pic. I got the close-up then it was zoom and gone before I could get a better pic.

Without doing a labial scale count I cannot be certain about species but I can definitely tell you that snake does belong to the Trimeresurus complex & it is a male.

How do you know the sex? Are they dimorphic in some obvious way?

Thanks for the ID! Known around here as the Bamboo snake or bamboo (pit)viper. (I could NOT remember that name!)

Yes, how can you tell the sex???

What causes the eye color? That is what caused me to notice it. This ruby red dot in a bush beside the path.

How were you able to get so close in the first place, first impression is that it's in some controlled enviro going by the closeness and background.

Used the zoom from about 6 feet away. I was deliberately trying to not get any background which is a vast trash dump. The autofocus was on it's body unfortunately.
