Ok so generally I try to keep ID's on things. This captive was unintended. It's being kept captive after it got into posion awhile back and kids beged to keep it. Amazingly it survived been three months. Since its been captive eatting B lats roaches I don't entend to turn it lose to spred anything in the wild. Anyway he? she? it? has become the center peice of the livingroom in an 12x12x18 exoterra live plants and it's own mini pond with air flow. Any idea as to what it is and how to tell sex? I found three frogs while searching for an Id that look just like it. It's small never makes a peep (gueesed female), green with a white line down the lwer regens of sides and has four brown spots on it's back. Guessing scars I don't know? I'd like to get a mate or some more to go with it.

That would be a Green Treefrog ( Hyla cinerea ). If I remember correctly males will have yellowish throats while females will have just plain white ones.

Thanks a bunch. Thats what I've been thinking but I couldn't find the latin name. Found a map using the Latin name. It's throat is white so I'll double check sexing it. If so it's a girl. Woohoo. Now I can pull a care sheet and maybe either get her a mate or put a bunch of girls in there.... depending on territorial they are.

Just for anyone else wanting to look up some frogs. Took me forever and I kept skipping over the site. Dohh. http://www.npwrc.usgs.gov/resource/herps/amphibid/anura_f.htm#leptodac

Your set up looks fine just make sure you have a water bowl at all times & use dechlorinated water with all amphibians. Ideal temps would be upper 70's -low 80's. They are not territorial at all so you can house more specimans if you like. These treefrogs are mainly found in the southeastern states most of what you see on the market comes out of Florida & Louisiana for the pet trade. Nice frogs & they make excellent captives. Some will also have slight speckling on the backs. Good luck & enjoy.:)

I used to keep some of those, athough they don't occur in the wild where I live. I do have tons of gray treefrogs around my yard, though. :D

In about an hour I can catch around 30 of these around the house and around the ponds.

I told you she is spoiled

With the advice from only exotics and watch her behavior I decided to make her a bigger pond. The boy wanted to put some tiny fish in there to watch too. Well the cube was so small even she didn't seem to like it much so I made it bigger and picked up a couple live plants for her and the Blondi today.
Here is the new improved tank the arrow in the last pic shows her first mini pond.
