My female wolf spider's sac finally hatched and she is absolutley covered in babies. I have streched a layer of very thin cloth over the top of the critter-keeper so prevent as few escapes as possible, (I expect a few once they scatter). I really want to rear the babies to a respectable size, so if any of you are interested I'll only charge shipping, as this is a non-profit, educational experience! ;)
Neither mom nor babies are eating as of yet, but mom kills everything that wanders within pouncing distance. Just being protective? I wonder why she isn't eating. She and the slings are both drinking though.
About me getting rid of them, this is a very dark species of wolf, (genus Hogna) with pretty yellow markings. Hopefully the slings will have the same coloration. So if any of you that have fruitlessly searched for wolfies want one just reply to this post if you are interested, then PM me about the details. I can't be online much because I'm having to use a friend's computer (no internet service right now) but in any case it will take a while for the slings to get big enough to ship.
And, if you don't want to pay shipping for a wolf spider, I've had good luck spotting them in pine groves in the woods!
Anyway, say congrats because this is my first experience being an arachnid mom! :D

You can buy large disposable tupperware containers and cups fairly cheap. They are designed for packing lunches and leftovers. Check out the local grocery. Excellent for raising 'ling of all types.

Would you mind if the spiders were going to be used as food? I have a colony of centruroides vittatus scorpions and wolf spiders are their favorite meal. Only problem is it's hard to find them around here. So if you're not against your pets becoming prey drop me a PM :D I actuallly used to keep some wolf spiders I caught outside but they seem scarce these days. Don't know why, maybe an ubundance of predators? Thanks
