I just bought this monster on wednesday. My buddy called me saying he wanted to buy some beardies from the pet store so about an hour of standing in a pet store warrants me not leaving empty handed. How often should I feed an adult of this species? How much humidity do they need? Gary ate 2 adult lateralis last night and 1 or 2 dubia today so far.

Handsome tokay. We just got one at the beginning of October, he's suprisingly handleable. As far as feeding, ours eats almost everday, but he's still a juvie. Adults need to eat 4-5 times a week (depending on prey item and quantity). I'm sure you could get away with larger feedings less frequently throughout the week. I know a lot of people (us included) who will give their tokay pinkie mice occasionally (about once a month). Tokays require pretty high humidity (70% to 90%). We mist ours about two to three times a day. Usually this will be enough for the humidity, but if it's having bad sheds then you may need to increase the humidity. Good luck with your new guy. Hope he's not too mean.

Looks really good for a tokay, most look alittle raggedy..as far as feeding they are garbage cans they will just eat and eat.

definately daily feeding. from the pic it looks to be fairly big already (if that's not right, please correct me)

We have a male and a female together and they eat and eat and eat. iirc, they can eat their body weight in crickets in a single sitting. eventually, a hopper mouse 1-2 times a week will be a good supplement. Til then, offer food daily. If you notice left over food then either feed less or stagger feeding days. Ours are both about 8 inches and they eat a TON so be ready for that.

For humidity, mist daily. Remember they are rainforest dwellers ranging from india to southeast asia and into indonesia/new guinea, so high humidity is needed. 70-80% should be fine. So far, I haven't actually witnessed either of ours drinking from the water dish, so I think they may primarily drink droplets from leaves or from the glass. I'm sure that a baby could learn to drink from a bowl over time, but if it is sub-adult to adult it may already be beyond their instinct to drink from a bowl. I'll have to look more into that, and you should also, but make sure it's moist in there just to be sure.

That's a nice looking Tokay, though. Really nice coloration. Such a beautiful species. Too bad they are so fiesty....and they're like pitbulls....once they grab ahold of you they DO NOT want to let go. Regardless, I love em. wonderful choice. :)

I'm not sure about sex...but he/she is getting close to adulthood I'm assuming (around 8 inches). Any tips on sexing after I can wrangle it without getting bit?

Yeah that massive spider plant is in there for humidity and the hygrometer reads around 70%. Its enclosure is right above my semi-open top aquarium aswell. I just need to move it to the other side of my room so I can get the temp to above 75 F.
