Last night i was cleaning out cricket pellets in my h.maculatas cage, well he ran into his burrow, next thing i know it comes charging out up the side and jumps mid air on to my leg, i freaked out scooped him up and put a lid on his deli cup.Well i woke up this morning and hes nowhere to be found:? i look and i see that i put the wrong deli lid on his thing and didnt realise it last night:8o

Where would be the best place to look for this guy, i have bunkbeds in my room, i have a recliner,2 dressers and of course the very dark closest i looked under my bed under the recliner, in all my shoes, under the dresser and in the drawers that i had the deli cup ontop of, i also have an air filter machine in my room, this guy is a webber so i might wait a couple days if i cant find him today and just look for webbing, he just had a molt last week and had 2 large crickets with the legs taken off the last 3 days and finished them off so hes pretty plump right now.

Look in dark places for starts. Man that is one spider I would not want loose, I only have a 4 incher and it is lightning quick!, bad bite like poecilotheria from what I have heard also.

How big is the escapee? Anyhow, look up high. He'll probably want to be off the ground if he can help it.

Good luck.

Sean,

i would try looking up under things like tables, chairs, couches, etc. This species goes upward at night and tends to stay downward during the day. At least the ones I've worked with have shown that type of behavior. At night, they will wait until there are no disturbances whatsoever, or light, and then come out. kind of like an arboreal cobalt! lol! Most of what I have worked with have been wild caughts, though. It took them a long while before they felt comfortable coming out at night when the lights are on or people are out and about. I'd try checking the vicinity where her deli cup was near first, then work my way outward from that point.

I hope you have success finding her! You might want to place something out for her to drink from as well.

Peace,

Paul

We had a togo escape earlier this year and she was very close to her home. Focus your attention on the walls near where it was before it disappeared. Chances are it didnt get far and if you keep the light on it wont move around as much. If that makes sense. Anyway, good luck finding it! :)

If it's possible, re-arrange your set up so all the heat is focused to a certain minimalised area, in theory the spider will be close to the warm areas, which you can routinely check :)

Thank god, i found it just now, i had the lights out in my room and the heating pad on in the floor i came in to check the heating pad to see if it was anywhere near it and nope it was, it was hiding behind this mike tyson poster i have in my room i seen its legs sticking up behind it it was at the highest corner of my room, i caught him im so happy.

The funny thing is this is the first time it has show like a real mean threat display he has done many ones but he pulled an usambra and went nuts when i put him back in his deli cup, my brother has a broken ankle for skating and im like brett come in here i go ok im going to try and get it if it falls and starts running u have to get it, the thing tacks off and is on the other side of the wall in 2 seconds fastest spider i have ever seen in my life, anywayz im happy i got it back, and im alwayz going to remember which lid goes to who so that dosent happen again:D

this is a cool poster though, it shows a close up of tysons face after he got busted up by lennox lewis. like his eye lids are all cut open its pretty cool lookin.Yeah when u decide to get a Togo if you do remember a lid to where the hole isnt big enough for the spider to squeez threw, cuz there escape artists man.

Yea......

Lennox hid from Tyson in Tyson's prime years. Smart move, as Tyson would have just made him another victim. But anyway, I am really glad you found your spider, and I found it ironic that it was behind the Mike Tyson poster. And those maculatas are very fast!!:)
