Order fruitflies now, so that you will be prepared.
Parasphendale spp. ooths usually take two or more days for all of the nymphs to hatch. These guys grow slow so be patient! Don't keep the ooth too moist, it is likely to mold, I've had them hatch out perfectly fine without any misting.

my mantid laid one before she died...does anyone know if they will still produce oothecas if they are not fertilized?

i have mine in the garage for now, i was told to keep it cold so they dont hatch too early, i'd hate to have a tank full of them and not be able to release them outside. anywho, i was also told to keep the tank moist, i didnt know mold was an issue...the ootheca itself is hanging from a stick, the only wet area is the floor of the tank. is this still a problem?

If there was no male mantid the female will still lay ooths but they won't be fertile, sorry.
