Just saying I love this specie but I won’t get them anytime soon for obvious reason. But still I kinda want to know the care for these guys, don’t judge I’m weird
One of the easiest spiders to keep. Sand and a piece of cork bark in their enclosure and done. They can't climb smooth surfaces. It's the African Hexophthalma hahni (ex Sicarius hahni) that has the really potent venom. Not that you'd want a bite off them anyway. But they're probably the least defensive spider there is so you'd have to literally pick one up and hurt one to get a bite.Just saying I love this specie but I won’t get them anytime soon for obvious reason. Thanks a lot! I will get one of this someday, but just not nowYou don't. Just feed them.
There's no rush. Something to look forward too. Thanks a lot! I will get one of this someday, but just not now
Just another thing, does the male and the female looks almost identical or are they sexually dimorph like tarantulas? There's no rush. Something to look forward too.
They're very similar unless adult.Just another thing, does the male and the female looks almost identical or are they sexually dimorph like tarantulas?
After they reach adulthood, is it just the pedipalps or are there other differences? They're very similar unless adult.
Males are a bit darker, more leggy and a bit larger than females. The best way to sex them is by examining the pedipalps as always. After they reach adulthood, is it just the pedipalps or are there other differences?
From my relatively short time keeping them, I would recommend mixing some soil in with the sand to better mimic their natural habitat. My individual kept this way instead of in the traditional pure sand setup has been more active than my others and has molted already. Thanks guys for letting me know more about this wonderful specie. I will take great care at them after I get them in the future
I was thinking of getting one, did you ever mist them in case they molt or nah?One of the easiest spiders to keep. Sand and a piece of cork bark in their enclosure and done.
