Hey...thought I'd post a few pics here...pictured are G. rosea (1 of 2), B. emelia (it has eaten now...and is looking much fatter!) and G. aureo.(1 of 4). I got rid of some of the old pictures that were here, when I got better pictures of newer specimens (see below)

It looks stranger in the pic than it really was...he (I think) was on the glass of his enclosure, except for a couple of legs. I think that the biggest part of why it looks so strange is that the only angle I could get a decent shot from, made it a bit of an awkward angle.

Nice spiders!
Thanks -- aren't they all? Looking at the pics, now, they really look kind of poor...one of these days when I'm home when it's light outside, I'm going to have to try again.

Hi Tim,

Those are some awesome tarantulas! :D Your Rosie looks pretty content, so goes your G. Aureostriata. I can't wait to watch my own 'family' grow.

Not that y'all would be worried about this, but I did just edit, with a much better pic than before, of my (female, I think) G. aureostriata. The substrate is wet because this particular individual (like my seemani) likes to dump all the water OUT of its water dish....ARGH!

Very nice pics, and ts :). I have the same problem, it all comes down to lighting doesn't it?! The more lighting the less grainy the pictures are. I just wish the I could get teh hang of my camera and use it with flash and stuff without washing everything out.

Got NEW Ts!!!

Finally got an order today (I was supposed to get it yesterday, but the expressmail lady got lost or something like that). So, without further ado...here are some of them (the A. genic has already disappeared, somewhere into its substrate):
1. Shemp, one of my 4 Brachy. albo. slings (not new, but just got rehoused, and had his mouth full, so I thought I'd take advantege:

2. Ixchel, now my largest T. She is a 6" A. seemani:

3. One of my 2 new A. avics (I now have 4 overall). This is Jael. I believe that she is female, although I'm obviously not sure yet:

Finally, the last 2 are of Chantico, also a new seemani, which just moulted to 3.25" and is definitely female (see next page); and an incredibly bad pic of my new GBB sling -- but I'm just so excited to have it, that I had to post a pic.

Hi Tim,
And to think I thought that only my tarantulas were out to annoy me... (just kidding, of course) I have a B. albopilosum that I haven't seen in a few days :D (I check on that one periodically just because it's burrowed around and underneath the water dish), and that B. vagans of mine just digs up the substrate and totally covers the water dish, then he runs and hides in his burrow. I had to change the peat already because it was getting soaked with water. I went to add fresh water to the water dish the other day and there it sat, pleased as peaches, cleaning itself.. in the water dish which was packed to the brim with peat {D I've been using soft plastic, snap-on milk jug caps for water dishes, and have been settling them down in the substrate on a slight angle. That way, the water runs to one side while tarantula can crawl down from above to get a drink.

It's official!!!

And, Sarah, I absolutely get the whole Brachy thing. I only know that my vagans are alive, because their fruit flies keep disappearing. At least some of my albos burrow against the glass. Nice sig, by the way. <><

Now, to the point of this post. One of my new A. seemanis (the tatty blackish one on my las post here) moulted yesterday -- she's looking really nice and fresh, and actually has 8 legs now! Will wait a week or so before coaking her out of her hide for a measurement and some pics. I had thought that, ventrally, she looked like a female, but the moult definitely confirms that (spermathecae outlined in red in 2nd pic in case anyone has trouble finding them). So she's going to be Chantico (the Mayan goddess of fires and volcanoes). Now I have 3 female A. seemani. Anyone got a male? Anyone?

Well, I have an OBT sling (which I've hardly seen in the past week)...it did try to get my finger once. I'm not as much into the whole aggressive Ts thing...sorry.

Hi Tim,
Perhaps it's just that Brachys love to burrow? I didn't realise they did. Now I'm wondering if I'll ever get to see them when they're full-grown! :? None of mine ever burrow next to the glass, in that sense they're too clever and head right towards the middle of the substrate to burrow. I hate to keep bugging them (no pun intended), but, they'll get over it :D Thank you, here's a good reason why I chose that specific verse for a signature:
And Jesus answering saith unto them, "Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye shall receive them, and ye shall have them." (Mark 11:22-24) If you have faith in God, you are strong enough to accomplish anything; if you need strength, only ask it of Him and ye shall receive. He's given me so much strength, wisdom and knowledge, not to mention quite a few miracles in my life. I know they weren't just coming out of nowhere!

This G. aureo (3") was my first T. It hasn't eaten in roughly 3 weeks (perhaps more), although the size of the abdomen hasn't changed, and it has really been looking a bit ratty tatty. That's why I was very happy to see it looking like this today:

Obviously in premoult -- I'm hoping it'll just be a few more days now. This will be its first time moulting in my care. I believe it to be female (based on ventral sexing), and am hoping that the moult will prove me right.

Moulting Ts, Eating Ts...

My largest G. aureo., moulting (it's a male...I have 3 males and 1 unsexed :( ):

And the larger of my 2 A. genic. slings (it's currently at 1.75" -- moulted about a week and a half ago), catching a discoid roach nymph (Blaberus discoidalis):

Anybody need a hug?

Here's my newest addition, a 2.5" Nhandu chromatus. Feisty little bugger:

Also got a decent shot this AM of my 5" Avic avic. At this size, with no hooks or emboli, I'm assuming she's female. This pic really shows her colours:
