Hello,
I followed AB's advice and rehoused both my GBB and Avic. Metallica to HUGE enclosures. (no smaller ones). Should be ok. Some plastic plants in both. I was wondering, how long does it take for them to web up???
Thanks

realy depends on the T's.. my gbb when i got as slings each upgrade [at 1" and 2+"] they started webbing as soon as i left the room.. but it varied from each T. my MF GBB made a mat after a day but nothing more.. when i rehoused her with her mat took her another week befor she webbed anything up [still not as thick as my boys where tho] iv also had psalmos [also pretty heavy webbers] hit the ground spinning but have also had some wait a week before making a hammock then a week or two roll by and they start to web and dig.... each T is different so hard telling can be anywhere from 1 day to 1 month XD

Agreed, its related to the acclimation process from what I can tell. Its the same for burrowing with obligate burrowers. I just re-housed a bunch of marshalli and ezendami slings. Some webbed instantly, others burrowed right away, but some hit the sides and are still there, a few went into a tight spot and sat scrunched up for days, then when they got comfortable, started webbing, burrowing or both.

I've had similar experiences to pyro's Psalmos. Re-housed 4 last spring, 2 literally started webbing before I got the top all the way back on, one waited a day, then went to town, the last sat in a strategic hunting location for a month, feeding well, and then out of the blue one day I awoke to a giant web tube with 3 entrances.

I say the quicker a webber webs and a burrower burrows, the better!!

They spin when they've accepted their new home and feel comfortable in it. Sometimes it takes a while for them to settle in.

UPDATE:
My A. metallica is already webbing and is going amazing. But my GBB seems to be unhealthy. Hasn't eaten in a month. I feed it but it doesn't eat. It barely moves and just sits there scrunched up. (not in death curl)
Help!!!

When my big Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens female, changed home she was about 3 weeks to settle down and start webbing a really nice big web :) it is so nice.
Dont worry it will start webbing eventually.

Maybe it is time for a molting soon. how big is it ? is it getting dark on the legs.
when my girl molted last time she was sitting in the same corner for over a month or so and did not wanted to eat.

That's a surprise because Avics Usually take a while before they start webbing.

The avic started webbing like 2 hours after transfer. The GBB also settled down but still scrunched up and nethargic. Premolt???

Not if they have ample anchor points; that often encourages spinning in short time in a new enclosure.
