My N. Chromatus freshly molted... only about a month after I got it!

Also, I swear I wasn't purposely provoking the thing, they just seem to be bad tempered right after a molt.

Such a nice spider.

Congrats on the molt; molts are always exciting! Just one recommendation, I would change the substrate to cocofiber or peatmoss. That bark stuff is not good for your Ts at all, it can hurt their ventral sides, and it doesn't retain any moisture.

Yes. I have learned that the hard way. And I do plan on switching the substrate to at least coconut fiber (I'm wary of buying the peat moss from a gardening shop because I worry about pesticides).

I don't think you need to worry about the peatmoss, lots of members, including me, use it. Coco fiber will be perfectly fine though, cause I use that too and have nothing against either of those substrates.

Well, I actually use a 50/50 mix and it works very well, seems like it holds much better. Only some of my cages have 100% of one or the other.

We have two, but my big girl "Cruella" is a sweetie-pie....:liar:
The smaller one is just plain flighty....

Congrats on the molt!

I'm waiting for mine to do the same. I have a good feeling that it will be soon though, as it is supposed to rain tonight. Other people have mentioned their Ts seem to molt when it rains.

Would it still be able to burrow in coconut fiber though?
