My first old world T, a H. Lividium arrived yesterday afternoon. She is an
adult female. I put her in a large KK with 4-5 inches of peat moss. This
morning she was checking the Kritter Keeper for escape routes. She didn't
find any so she's benn digging for 2 hours.
:D

Congrats on her. Was she easy to move into her new enclosure? The slings are fast little buggers.

It was tricky, she was in a medium cup with padding but she was
loose inside the cup. I had to go around the edge of the cup and loosen
up the edges but not take the lid off. Then I placed the cup in the KK
and put the top on the KK. Then I opened up the access window on
top of the KK and with a 12" Hemostat I started to peel back the cup
lid. It took a couple of tries and in the meantime she was scrabbling
around in the cup getting stressed out. When I got the lid peeled back
she jumped out and attacked the hemostat and launched herself toward
the opening. I quickly backed out and closed the panel. Of course this
left the cup in with her. Later I sneaked in long enough to get the cup
lid out. I had to open the top of the KK slightly to do this. This morning
when she was digging face down I finally got the deli cup itself out. ;)

My sling was a little trickery to put in its enclosure. But the second time I had to do it the sling just sat there and let me pick it up and place it in its new home. So much for them being such a vicious tarantula :). I still wouldn't attempt to try and handle it :)
