Theraphosa Stirmi Growth Rate

I'm thinking of picking up a female T. Stirmi.

Breeder tells me it's captive bred, 4.5yrs old and is about 5-6" in size,

Does this sound right?

I always figured that they be full grown by 4-5yrs.

Or maybe it's wild caught and they're taking guesses?

No one can know for sure, as the age and size will vary between specimens whether they are the same species or not.

I just find it weird that some people telling me that have 7" T. Stirmis at 2yrs old, and other saying the same size is
nearly 5yrs old. I think that's a fairly huge difference.

No-one can say for sure as too many factors affect growth rates (from temps/feeding to genetics), I've had mine for around the same amount of time and she's about 8" or so.

My buddies are around about that age and they are huge. They are kept in the same room as my Asian spider's so the temp is a steady 78 to no more than 80 degrees f. I'd be afraid to even guess at the size six at the very least I'm pretty sure his one is pushing 8. Her carapace is like a hub cap off an older car. Biggest spider I have seen to date.

I'm not sure about Theraphosa but I know that most tarantula species have different growth rates based on sex. Males grow and mature MUCH faster than females, so truthfully the fact that the seller stated that she is about 5 years old at that size tracks.
