My new baby crested gecko. I'm hoping this one is going to be female, but it's a looker anyway it goes.

Thats a nice gecko. I was looking at gecko's..they were really big. I don't remember the name of them.

I have been looking into getting another herp. I looked around this weekend and ended up bringing a Jackson Chameloen home with me.

New caladonian crested geckos are cool, especially since they look like dinosaurs. then again, pretty much everything in new caladonia does.

Thats a cool looking gecko. I've considered getting one but they are kind of $$ for Captive born. How much did you pay for your?

I dropped $100 on that one. Good quality, has a great chevron pattern, and has what I would consider a mild pinstripe going all the way down on the sides. It may change color slightly, but it's probably going to stay like that. Btw, that is roughly it's lighter color. "she" gets darker.

You can get crested geckos for as low as $40. If you want a harlequin, a tiger, or something else that is more unique/special, you're going to be paying a lot more.

The usual range I see is $40 to $160. Females can run around $200.

Crested geckos really are the new craze. They're incredibly cute, and fairly easy to take care of. I love mine, and I plan on breeding them when they get old enough.

Thanks for showing that pic now I am looking into getting a couple of cresties. Hopefully a decent amount of my Leopard gecko eggs hatch so I can trade for/towards a cresty or 2. What type of setup do you have for it?

The baby's setup is currently like this.

This is an acrylic cage I found at the swap and later decided to put the baby in here, so it's not getting stressed with huge open spaces. I have an empty ten gallon and an empty tall custom cage, but I didn't want to put it in either one of those at the moment.

The two sub adults I have are setup in roughly the same fashion. You can see the lid of the male's rubbermaid under the baby's cage. The sub adults have 2 full sheets of egg carton to climb on and hide in. Substrate is paper towels, the blue ball is a bioball, so crickets don't drown in water dishes. The other two have a large ficus vine strung across one side to hide/climb on. They also have both have a cork bark piece at ground level to hide behind.

The female has a laying box, even though she won't be using for quite a while. The male has a lizard lounge net set up in one corner of his cage, since that will be his permanent home for a good 4 to 6 months out of every year.

If you're serious about getting into crested geckos, get Robbie Hamper's book.

what a cutie. I would have one of those if I were to ever get a gecko. They seem fairly laid back, and cute as hell too.
One of these days, I may have to give in!
