Ive lived in Arizona for a while now and one thing I'm dying to find is a dynastes grantii male. I go up to Payson every few weeks which is supposedly the Dynastes hotspot of Arizona (I think?) but I have only ever found females and 2 dead males. I understand that their active season is very brief so finding them can be tricky but I still cant seem to succeed even when I'm up at the right time. The season for them is just starting so hopefully ill find some this year. I actually did find a female and my blacklight tonight as well as 100s of xyloryctes and some chrysina but no more dynastes came.
Any tips for finding them a bit more easily?
I've also got a few questions: Will both males and females come to a standard blacklight? Is 5,340 elevation too high to find them? Specifically Khols ranch which is 15 minutes up the road from payson. Is visiting parking lots in Payson the best way to find them?
