The California brown recluse/hobo argument

Ok, so mostly everyone says there are no recluses in CA with the exception of the desert species- a lot of people are adamant that there isn't and some insist there is....anyone agree/disagree? Any stories? This website claims that brown recluses are a pest in the Antelope Valley area. So......? Oh, and I've heard the same about hobo spiders.

My spider professor showed us a study that did show that brown recluse have been found in very small numbers in California but no where near the amount of bite reports that are attributed (ie blamed) to them. They are called recluse for a reason, they are reclusive and in the areas where there are recluse they are every where (my professor has lived in those areas and can verify this).

There WAS an isolated population of l. Chilensis in socal a while back,

But brown recluses have to survive the gauntlet of pholcidae that thrive indoors.

Lol they meant including legs. The general public doesnt realize that spiders are measured without them haha
