where do you live?

i know you can keep them in florida.
I live in California, but I'm considering moving to Texas. I'd read that there were protected there, so I was trying to find out if it's okay to buy them in the state or if you have to buy them out of state.

NO! It is not illegal to keep Texas Indigos but you DO HAVE TO HAVE A PERMIT. We have Easterns so we only had to get permits to move them across state lines. If you are buying a Texas from someone in Texas, you need a permit to keep them. If you are buying a Texas from someone out-of-state, you need both permits.

EDIT: btw, the permit for transferring them over state lines is around $100 but you can add multiple snakes to that permit should you be buying from the same person. So really, it's $100 per shipment. I'm not sure how much the permit to keep the Texas is.
